How Much Does Your Electric Bill Go Up With An Electric Car ?
It's worth looking around to see what tariffs the electricity company's offer. "Economy 7" allows you to get much cheaper electricity during off-peak hours during the night. Typically this is a 7-hour window when the demand on the grid is lowest. The only thing to remember is the time it will take to charge your electric car. A Tesla with a 100kW battery will take a greater length of time to charge than a Renault Zoe 30 kW battery.
How Many Solar Panels Does It Take To Charge An Electric Vehicle ?
You have to remember unless you are using battery storage the power generated by your panels has to be used immediately either to power your appliances including your car or its sold back to the grid. How Can OZEV Grants Help You
All our electric car charging installations have been accredited by OZEV (Office For Zero Emission Vehicles) meaning they are eligible for the Workplace Charging Scheme. The grant amount currently stands at £500 per single socket charger.
Domestic OZEV Grants For EV Charge Points
At a price of £1000 for the average charge point. Installing an EV car charger can seem expensive without any grants involved. That's why the OZEV grant is beneficial for everyone involved. The OZEV Grant helps domestic charger users to get their smart charger at a more reasonable price with Grant funds up to £350 per charge point.
From the 1st of April 2020 the grant for these schemes will be set at £350 towards the cost of purchase and install of a charge point at home through the electric vehicle home charge scheme, and £350 towards a charge point socket at work through the workplace charging scheme. This is a reduction from £500 to £350. The new rate will apply to installs on or after 1st April 2020 for EVHS, and will apply to voucher applications submitted on or after 1st April 2020 for WCS.
Depending on the type of charger you desire this could mean youll end up reducing the install cost by almost half. Leaving only minor remaining costs for you to pay.
